Combining the beachy feel of the west coast with flavorful Cali-Asian inspired cuisine, Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen brings a little taste of California to the Westchase community. Leave your worries behind as you step inside their dining area, which perfectly harnesses the feeling of being free; transporting guests to a place of relaxation. Incorporating the good vibes of the California lifestyle, Surf Shack channels this positive energy into their food, fusing deliciously healthy ingredients with their own unique recipes to offer guests a variety of fresh, fun creations.

Encompassing the multicultural diversity of the west coast, Surf Shack’s menu reflects a variety of influences, from Mexican to Asian to traditional American; embodying unique aspects of each to create flavorful selections that capture the true California motif. With a delicious selection of rice and noodle bowls, burgers, salads, and tacos to choose from, their menu is diverse, featuring exquisite options for every taste and diet; and Chef Eben Chriss does an excellent job of preparing the dishes, creating beautifully presented food that looks every bit as amazing as it tastes.

“From our homemade tortilla chips and our ‘Almost Famous Salsa’ all the way to our made-to-order-freshsqueezed margaritas with all-natural agave nectar, we do all we can do to give you the freshest menu choices,” says owner Jason Rehm. “We are all about fresh and vibrant flavors, which is why we use as many local and organic items as possible.”

Adhering to the California lifestyle of healthy eating, Surf Shack also offers a wide array of lighter options for the health-conscious diners, such as their Tuna Poke’ Salad, featuring amazingly fresh Ahi tuna, mixed greens, cabbage, jicama and carrots topped off with a poke’ sauce and their delicious mangopassion vinaigrette salad dressing.

Surf Shack has the perfect atmosphere for every occasion, and, with different specials throughout the week, Surf Shack’s already low prices are even more affordable! Jason says, “We want people to come in and feel comfortable and relaxed as we exceed their expectations with our food.”

"Shacky Hour"

Come in to Surf Shack any day of the week from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. – close for their “Shacky Hour”. During this time guests enjoy $2.50 domestic draft beers, and $4 craft beers and imports, house wines and well drinks, as well as $5 sangrias and house margaritas.

Surf Shack has a full liquor bar, and boasts 10 different beers on tap, including a nice selection of craft beers. They also have an extensive list of signature drinks, offering patrons some great ideas on thirst-quenching libations. If you love sangria, you have to try their Blueberry Passion Fruit Sangria. Made with red wine, muddled blueberry, passion fruit and fresh squeezed fruit juices, this sangria is deliciously sweet and refreshing, perfectly pairing with everything on the menu.

Wing and Things Wednesday

Serving $.50 wings and $2 select draft beers all day on Wednesday, Surf Shack is definitely the place to be! With your choice of sauce, including buffalo, guava glaze, thai chile, and black ale bbq, these jumbo size wings are loaded with flavor.

Diner Nichole C. writes, “I've eaten at Surf Shack several times now and love going, there! The first time I ate there, it was $.50 wing night and the wings were AWESOME!”

Taco Thursdays

Featuring $2 tacos all days long, Thursdays are a huge hit at Surf Shack and are a great time to sample some of the different flavors on menu. With so many delicious tacos to choose from, Surf Shack serves tacos in almost every way imaginable; including their Pipeline Fish Tacos, made with grilled cod, thinsliced cabbage, pickled red onions, cilantro, and chile-tomatillo salsa. If you are more of a “land-lover”, check out their Bonzai Beef Tacos. Made with tenderloin steak, grilled onions, red peppers, carrots, jicama, cheese and Mongolian sauce, these tacos have a taste that is out of this world! You also have the option of combining land and sea in the Surf and Turf Tacos, featuring filet and shrimp, along with crispy onions and chipotle pesto for a delicious taco that boasts a distinct Hawaiian/Asian taste that is absolutely incredible. Other favorites include the Longboard Fish Tacos, the Filet Mignon Tacos and my favorite – the Bangin’ Shrimp Tacos. Filled with fresh Gulf shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, and sliced avocado, along with chipotle mayonnaise, the Bangin’ Shrimp tacos are definitely not an item to be missed and really take the taco to an entirely new level.

Other specials include $5 Burritos and Sliders on Monday, as well as $7.95 Fajitas on Saturday from 5 p.m. – close, with your choice of chicken, steak or shrimp. Kids eat free on Sundays, (with the purchase of an adult meal) so bring in your little one for a nice family meal.

“Surf Shack is sort of a hidden local gem,” writes customer Amanda. “My favorite part about this place is $2 Taco Thursdays. Their salsa is one of the best I've ever had, and I love their pineapple mint tea. They always switch up their specials, which makes it interesting. The atmosphere is awesome! Surfboards hung to the ceiling, Jack Johnson music in the background and surf videos playing on a huge projector make you really feel like you are at the beach!”
