Gulfside Windows, Doors and More; Cut Your Energy Bill and Protect Your Home From Hurricanes and Severe Weather.
Turn down Henderson Road in Carrollwood and you may never know that Tiverton, a community of 30 brand-new distinguished single family homes, is nestled into a cul-de-sac just a short drive down the street. Likewise, you may not know that just off of Gunn Hwy., tucked behind Val’s Décor, is Gauge Line Lofts, a 42- unit modern loft home community. And that is the challenge that Gables and Gardens LLC founder, developer and builder Brent Balch has overcome for the past 13 years.
Brent graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Landscape Architecture and although he loved the exterior design component, he wanted to build the homes for which he was designing landscapes. After a few years of practicing landscape architecture, he returned to University of Florida for a degree in Construction Management. Initially he worked in large commercial construction, but longed for an opportunity to build his own distinct homes and residential communities.
In 2003, he started his developer/ builder career in the Carrollwood area and continues to develop there today. For the past thirteen years he and his development team have competed in a market dominated by the national production builders. Their success can be attributed to the quality and uncommon design of each project.
Brent said, “Our operation is a little bit different than the big production guys. We can create any type and style of community we envision from project to project. We don’t do the same type of community twice. We buy the land, we design the homes, and we build and sell all in-house. It’s a complete start to finish operation and therefore we only do 1 to 2 communities at a time. Staying small like this allows us to offer high quality, unique communities to a market dominated by the national builders.”
The current developments Gables & Gardens has underway are Homes of Tiverton and Gauge Line Lofts. Located on a charming cul-de-sac in the Carrollwood area, Tiverton overflows with Southern charm. Timehonored front porches combined with elegant interiors characterize these single family homes. Each home features a detached garage and colorfully accented front doors to set these homes apart. Reminiscent of Charleston SC carriage homes, you can envision the future of this beautiful community - kids giggling, running to the park at the end of the cul-de-sac, reading a book on the wooden porch swing and hearing the ice clinking into a glass of cold lemonade.
The elegant interiors of all Gables & Gardens model homes are designed by Brent’s wife, Angie, who has the talent to complete the vision of the builder/development team. Regardless of the architecture of the particular Gables & Gardens home and community, Angie perfectly captures the feel and personality of each through her interior designs.
Kim Rice, buyer options coordinator, works closely with every Gables & Gardens home buyer to carry out the personal vision for their new home in each community. She explains, “It’s the standards that are used that just makes these homes standout – interior-wise and exterior. It’s architecture that is not around. These are not cookie-cutter templates. These are created and branded by Brent and the company.”
Gauge Line Lofts is perhaps the most unique venture for Gables & Gardens to date. These loft homes, inspired by the clean lines and sophistication of Modern Architecture, are now under construction in Carrollwood. Soaring open spaces, floor to ceiling glass, open tread staircases, spiral staircases, and individual private roof top decks are just a few of the extraordinary attributes of this new 42-unit gated community. Located just off of Dale Mabry and Linebaugh Avenue, Gauge Line Lofts is truly a one-of-a-kind community and a first for the Northwest Tampa area.
Brent explained that he created these special subdivisions because there are very few new homes of this style and price range in Carrollwood. “There is no land left,” he said. “To get out there and try to buy a house in the $200’s to $300’s range that is brand new and that is in the Carrollwood area is hard to find. Everything is older - 20 – 25 years old - and although there are plenty of opportunities to buy nice older homes, there really is not much new, if you want to stay in Carrollwood. We try to give an affordable alternative to fill the void.”
With projects that are as varied and diverse as the communities Brent and his team create - from custom town homes, courtyard villas and welcoming subdivisions, to industrialstyled lofts – there is one common thread: “We take pride in being unique. We do the whole thing to create thoughtful neighborhoods and homes.”
